What is light weight and foldable material handeling equipment?

For the purpose of collecting and transporting lunar surface substances and sub-surface samples, astronauts would require an equipment that is capable of handling and conveying the matter and substances to the shuttle and then back to the earth effectively. Here, we have come up with idea of “foldable trolley”, a material handling equipment that would serve this purpose efficiently. The dimension of trolley, considering full open condition is having height of 1000mm, width of 850mm, and length of 1000mm. After folding the trolley width of trolley is get change and it is reduced form 850mm to 350mm and height and length is remain constant.

Why light weight and foldable material handeling equipment?

Along with consideration the weight and size restriction imposed, foldable trolley is made from carbon fiber to be robust and durable equipment. Here we have use standard square tube of carbon fiber having dimension of 1 inch, which provide ultimate tensile strength of 600MPa, and having young’s modulus of 70GPa. It occupies minimum space under unutilized circumstance due to its folding mechanism, and would bestow maximum volume for storage and transport while employed.Also, weight of asselmbly is only "3780 grams", which too much less than traditional trolley.
